"Cyclone Sidr, a category 4 with winds in excess of 150 miles per hour (for comparison, when Hurricane Katrina made landfall on August 29, 2005, it was a Category 3 storm with top winds of 125 miles per hour) hit Bangladesh on November 15th. The cyclone has killed at least 3,100 people and affected over 1 million Bangladeshis according to BBC.

One Ummah Foundation is working with a trusted contact in Bagerhat, one of the most affected areas, to provide food and shelter to the survivors of the Cyclone.

In the future, we plan on continuing work in Bangladesh working focused on the longer term including providing textbooks, school uniforms and possibly funding the construction of a school."
